An Easter look at presidential elections and stock markets

Never talk about religion, politics or money” This paper breaks two of the three taboo rules and looks at how US Presidential elections influence, or don’t, US stock market returns. US Presidential elections appear to have some unusual impacts on stock markets, laying waste to such adages as “Sell in May and go away”. More intriguing results are found when considering if the winning party impacts market results.
